Clothes Closet

The Clothes Closet is currently closed.

The Clothes Closet opened up when a few ladies of our congregation saw the need again arise for reasonably priced clothing in our community – especially among families who were struggling to make ends meet. As the Church Annex next door at 500 South Locust was vacant, the ladies of the Sweet Springs First Baptist Church cleaned the building and began accepting gently used clothing ONLY – no other items. The ladies carefully inspect each garment. All dirty, torn, missing button, broken zipper, etc., items are discarded. Those discarded items also find a home through a special reuse/recycling program. Only nice, clean items are put on display.

The Clothes Closet is open on Saturdays from 9:00 am – Noon. Most items are only 25 cents. A few items (such as coats and Prom dresses) are a little more expensive. Each first Saturday of the month is $1.00 Bag Day. The ladies will give you a bag to fill. Everything you can get in the bag is $1.00.

Donations are accepted on Saturday mornings from 9:00 – Noon or by contacting Patty Kelley at 335-4555 or Ruth Cox at 660-202-2954. Donations may also be left on the front porch or in one of the special patio boxes on the back deck. If you cannot make it to the Clothes Closet on Saturday mornings and need some items or want to make a donation (but don’t want to leave it outside), please call the ladies to arrange a time to meet and come see what there is.

The Clothes Closet is open to everyone – those on a budget, bargain hunters, thirty shoppers, etc. Come and check us out!
